Dawgs Fall Behind Early in Louisburg Loss
LOUISBURG-Pitt Community College got off to a slow start offensively Sunday and never recovered in falling to Louisburg College, 94-78.
The Bulldogs shot just 22 percent from the field in the first half en route to a 52-31 halftime deficit against the Hurricanes, who earned their eighth victory of the season with the win.
A major factor in the game's outcome was rebounding, as Louisburg held a 56-42 advantage on the glass.
Jeremy Atkinson led the 'Canes in scoring with 19 points. A total of four Louisburg players-Will Smith (17), Duke Dorsey (14), Joe Thompson (12) and Atkinson-scored in double figures.
Tyrelle Jackson's 19 points led Pitt, which fell to 0-5 this season, 0-3 in the Region X Conference. Terrence Drakeford scored 14 for the Dawgs, and Terrence Copeland had 10.
Next up for PCC is a trip to Chapel Hill Saturday to face the UNC JV squad in the Dean E. Smith Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
