Bennett Powers Eagles Past Bulldogs, 95-74
WENTWORTH-Powered by the inside presence of Steve Bennett, Rockingham Community College handed Pitt Community College its fourth loss of the season Saturday, 95-74.
Bennett, a 6-10 center, led all scorers with 33 points to go along with 10 rebounds for a double-double. The Eagles, who jumped out to a 10-5 lead early and led 48-22 at the half, shot 59 percent from the field for the game while limiting the Bulldogs to just 34 percent shooting.
Jermaine Martinez scored 23 and K.J. Ross added 10 for RCC, which shot a blazing 64 percent in the second half.
Tyrelle Jackson scored 22 to pace the Bulldogs offensively. Chucky Becton and Darrien Ince finished with 11 points each, and Darren Wilson added 10 to give PCC four players in double figures scoring.
The Bulldogs played Saturday's game without starting guard Dominique Holloway, who has mononucleosis and may be out for several weeks.
With the loss, Pitt dropped to 0-4 overall, 0-2 in Region X Conference play.
