Williams Impressive But PCC Falls to Lenoir
KINSTON-Jerrel Williams scored 34 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, but the impressive double-double from the Wilson freshman wasn't enough to keep Pitt Community College from dropping its season-opener to Lenoir Community College, 117-97.
Facing the Lancers (2-1) on their home court Wednesday, PCC fell behind 75-43 by the gameís midway point.
Williams, a 6-5 forward out of Fike High School, had help from 6-4 guard Tyrelle Jackson, who tallied 25 points and 10 boards. John Setters, a freshman from D.H. Conley, scored 18 for the Bulldogs (0-1), who outscored Lenoir 54-42 in the second half but could never overcome their 32-point halftime deficit.
Pitt will look for its first win of the 2010-11 campaign Saturday at home against Sandhills Community College. Tip-off in the Charles Coburn Center is set for 3 p.m.
