NC Concealed Carry

The purpose of this course is to explain the aspects of the North Carolina Concealed Carry Handgun Law as it applies to the rights of the citizen to carry a concealed handgun and to teach and apply the fundamentals of safety and basic marksmanship. CCW Legal Update

The purpose of this class is to update citizens who have an NC Concealed Carry permit and need to update or renew their permit. Students will be updated on NC laws and will also re-take the test. Cost: $49

Basic Pistol Shooting

The NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course introduces students to the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for owning and using a pistol safely. Through this course, students will learn about pistol parts and operation, ammunition, gun safety, pistol shooting fundamentals, and pistol shooting activities. This course will also prepare the student for participation in other NRA courses. This course will be taught by a National Rifle Association Basic Pistol Shooting Instructor. AAA Roadwise

Pitt County Safe Communities Coalition in conjunction with Pitt Community College offer the AAA approved Roadwise course. This course covers a variety of topics for drivers ages 50+. This course is offered in a 4 hour setting on a Saturday. Watercolor Basics

MELT Method

MELT is a simple self-treatment technique using soft balls and a foam roller to help you get out and stay out of chronic pain. MELT helps to reduce neck and back pain, tennis elbow, inflammation, and everyday aches and stiffness. This technique will help to improve posture and alignment, joint mobility, enhance athletic performance and overall well-being. Progressive Calisthenics

Calisthenics is not what it used to be! Calisthenics, or bodyweight training, has exploded over the last few years. Hand balancing, flags, “pistol” squats, and different types of push-ups and pull-ups are just some of the “cool” things you’ve seen others doing. Learn how to use just your body and get a full body workout anywhere, anytime. Need more resistance? Or maybe you can’t do a “real” push-up yet? No problem! “Progressive” means you will learn how to make exercises super easy or crazy difficult, or anywhere in between. Explore variations of moves like: push-ups, pull-ups, leg raises, squats and lunges. Not only that, you will learn static holds like: press holds, handstands, back levers, front levers and even side levers – like the Human Flag! You will also learn to master different variations of the mighty bridge….a move that will strengthen your spine and hamstrings like no other! Students will learn about fabric, sewing terminology, how to read a pattern, how to measure for proper fitting, basic hand sewing stitches, and finally there will be a total discussion and demonstration on a sewing machine. Instructor: Elizabeth Weidner. Cost: $49

Master the Sewing Machine

Students will learn the parts of the sewing machine and how a stitch is made! Take a tour of the accessories that come with the basic sewing machine, using the manual for your machine. Learn proper needles and threads to use along with basic machine maintenance. Learn how to perform a basic cleaning for the bobbin area of the machine. Learn other trouble-shooting for your machine, when to change the needle, when to rethread your machine, and how to check for tension adjustments. Fancy Ferrous: Learning to Torch Forged Steel

Spend a Friday and Saturday learning the basics of small-scale blacksmithing! Safety, tools, and terminology will be discussed. Demonstrations on how to do basic forging of tapers, a variety of twists, and finishes including sealing and patination. After completing each technique the students will be able to produce their one of a kind jewelry piece. You Are So Sprued! An Introduction to Lost Wax Casting

This intensive three-day workshop will give you an in depth introduction to the process of lost wax casting with sterling silver. The casting process, wax-working basics and terminology, making a wax tool, working with natural objects, as well as various finishing methods will be covered. Pop of Color: Learning to Make Glass Beads

Spend a Sunday learning the basics of lamp-worked bead making! Safety, tools, and terminology will be discussed. Enameling Workshop

The use of glass on metal has been employed for centuries as a way to add beautiful colors to objects of adornment. In this workshop we will learn the basics of the champleve enameling technique.
