To qualify for the fee waiver you must meet one of four criteria:

- Are unemployed
- Have received notification of pending layoff
- Are working and are eligible for federal earned income tax credit
- Are working and earning wages at or below two hundred (200%) of the federal poverty guidelines

This course is designed to enhance your interview skills by exploring personal values and work ethic, job interests, job strengths, and long-term career objectives. Cost: $75. Fee waiver available for those who qualify.

Secrets of Landing a Job
Hours: 12

This course is designed to teach you how to answer those tough interview questions effectively and tell you what questions you need to ask an employer. NOT "How much do you pay?" Learn what employers are looking for and how to target your resume. The "Hidden Job Market" is the key to finding a job: learn some tried and true secrets to locate job opportunities, even those not advertised. Learn tips on what to do before, during, and after the interview and how to avoid common mistakes. Class is located at the NCWorks Conference Room (Employment Office). Cost: $75. Fee waived for those who qualify.

Professionals in Transition (Lab-Open/Entry)
Hours: 24

This lab will provide practice for the personal competencies and employability skills the students learned while taking Overcoming Job Seeking Barriers & Blunders and Secrets of Landing a Job. Individuals will refine their job search campaign strategy, practice interviewing and networking skills, develop a strategic Self-Marketing Plan, and have accountability assignments for the job search. Individuals will complete and post their resume on appropriate career sites such as NCWorks and LinkedIn profiling their individuals skills, aptitudes, education, training, and work experience. Cost: $75. Fee waived for those who qualify.

Overcoming Job Seeking Barriers and Blunders
Hours: 4

Ever wonder if your resume gets lost or do you question if your application even gets seen? Learn some tried and true secrets of what employers are looking for. This course is designed to help you write and effective resume, fill out an impressive application, and write a cover letter that gets you noticed. Cost: $75. Fee waiver available for those who qualify.


Taking Action: A Dynamic Resume
Hours: 9

Learn how to create a dynamic resume, develop a LinkedIn profile, fill out applications effectively, and create a cover letter that gets you noticed. Cost: $75. Fee waiver available for those who qualify.

Basic Computer Skills
Hours: 18

The curriculum framework and the content of the instructional material focuses on the following topics: learning how to turn the computer on and off, computer terminology, discussing the keyboard, how to cut and paste, using the mouse, internet navigation, developing and implementing job search strategies, researching career and occupational information compiling and developing employment related documents (resume, cover letters, applications), how to send and receive emails, as well as attach documents to an email and open them when attached, and understanding the impact of social networking on employment, and emphasizing the role of technology in the workplace.  Cost: $75. Fee waiver available for those who qualify.

Employer Expectations
Hours: 12

The goal of this course is to provide employability skills training and increase your ability to become employed or to obtain a higher quality of employment. During this course, you will demonstrate the ability to work as a team member and contribute information to aid the instructor in making vocational and academic assessments. Cost: $75. Fee waiver available for those who qualify.


Communication Skills
Hours: 12

This curriculum is designed to build effective interpersonal communication skills. Effective communication skills are important both in business interactions as well as personal interactions. Yes, communication takes place all the time, but how effective is it when job searching and during the interview process? Cost: $75. Fee waiver available for those who qualify.

Overcoming Obstacles
Hours: 12

This class is designed to help you learn how to overcome barriers both on the job and off the job and learn to effectively answer interview questions as it relates to blemishes associated with current and previous situations. Learn how to develop employable and transferable skills as well as discover your strengths and set goals. Cost: $75. Fee waiver available for those who qualify.
