BPI Online Testing Lab

We offer ANY BPI online test. If you took training here at Pitt Community College or elsewhere but never tested, or did not pass exam, this is your opportunity to take the online exam. If you wish to take any of the exams without training because you believe you have enough knowledge and experience, you may also take exam. Cost: $225
You must pay and register (specialized registration) for class at least one week before testing date. Fee is non-refundable. However, if you must miss the exam (AND NOTIFY US), you will be eligible to take it the next session at no charge.

We offer The NABCEP PV Entry Level Exam. If you took training here at Pitt Community College or elsewhere but never tested, or did not pass exam, this is your opportunity to take this paper exam. Auditor (BPI Building Analyst)

This program is designed to teach an understanding of the “House as a System” perspective. Students learn to perform comprehensive, whole-home assessments as they learn to use state of the art diagnostic tools. They will learn to identify building problems at the root cause and then prescribe and prioritize solutions based on building science while maintaining the “do no harm” priority. Successful candidates will gain the knowledge necessary to provide homeowners an overview of energy consumption and options to save money by conserving energy. Includes opportunity to sit for BPI “Building Analyst” Certification Test. In addition to class times listed, students will be required to sign up for a 2-hour individual field testing session. Cost: $126.25 + $400 BPI testing fee.
Multi-Family Building Analyst Professional

This course is designed to teach an understanding of the “building-as-a-system” fundamentals to diagnose problems and improve the performance of larger, more complex residential structures. Students will go beyond a traditional energy audit and learn to identify building problems at the root cause, and then prescribe and prioritize solutions based on building science while maintaining the “DO NO HARM” priority. Students must have BPI “Building Analyst” (our Auditor class) certification to enroll in this class. Cost: $71.25 + $400 BPI testing.
Building and Facilities Maintenance Certification Program

The Continuing Education arm of Pitt Community College, in cooperation with local property and facilities managers, has developed a broad based maintenance training program to prepare successful graduates for an entry level position in the always needed and growing maintenance field. Broken down into three modules, this program gives students relevant knowledge and practical trade skills to prepare them for the real world of property and building maintenance.
Building Maintenance - Core (Module 1)

The first module (Core) includes training to earn the OSHA 10 hr card, classroom training in the issues important to the maintenance field, familiarization of a broad spectrum of tools including hands on use, and applied practice of some basic maintenance tasks. Cost: $181.25 + Book
Building Maintenance - Plumbing & Carpentry (Module 2)
Hours: 36
The second module (Plumbing & Carpentry) focuses on specific plumbing, carpentry, and roofing issues common in the maintenance business. Training is mostly hands on in performing these tasks. Cost: $126.25 + Book
Building Maintenance - Electrical & HVAC (Module 3)
Hours: 40
The third module (Electric & HVAC) focuses on electrical and HVAC maintenance issues and will include training to receive CFC certification. Cost: $126.25 + Book
Flagger Certification Training

The Flagger Certification Training Course is a comprehensive skill-building session that meets federal industry guidelines: the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and the ANSI standard ISEA-107-1999, the Office of Highway Safety, the Federal Highway Administration, and the North Carolina Department of Transportation guidelines.

Trenching - Competent Person

Duct Leakage Tech - Basic

This course is designed to train building professionals in performing a duct leakage test as is now required by the new 2012 NC Energy Code. Students will learn how to pressurize the system with a duct blaster, understand the data, and how to submit the required paperwork. This will include hands-on exposure to the equipment and overview of the forms that are required by the new Code. Cost $71.25
Duct Leakage Tech - Advanced

This course is designed to train students to test the leakage in residential duct systems utilizing duct testing equipment. This course is for HVAC, General Contractors, and other professionals who qualify under the 2012 NC Energy Code to test the duct systems. Paperwork requirements to satisfy state regulations are also covered. The advanced class also covers more building science and some of the advanced testing requirements for EnergyStar compliance. Cost: $71.25
Lead Renovation Repair and Painting Certification

This course provides the necessary training to become certified in lead-safe practices in renovation, repair, or painting of pre-1978 dwellings. Cost: $195
PV Technician Entry Level
Hours: 40
This course is designed to teach the fundamentals of solar energy and identify what the markets and applications for Photovoltaic Technology are. Students will learn proper system sizing principles and basic design of the electrical and mechanical PV Array. This will include hands on training working with a live PV System. Includes opportunity to sit for NABCEP “PV Entry Level” Exam. Cost: $126.25 + $75 Exam fee
Weatherization Technician - Experienced

This course is designed to train students in the basic principles of air sealing a home. This will include hands-on training in identifying and sealing common air leakage points. Students will learn basic building science as they learn how to seal various building envelope penetrations, properly mastic seal duct work and install dense pack insulation in exterior walls. Incorporates a national certification from the National Center for Construction Education and Research.. Cost: $126.25 + $15 test fee
Weatherization Technician – Entry Level

This entry level program for is for students wanting to enter the residential weatherization field. Through the NCCER Weatherization Training, students will learn basic building science, how to check for air leaks, complete heat loss tests to determine insulation quality, and other techniques used to insulate and seal a structure to improve efficiency and weather tightness and incorporates the national NCCER weatherization certification. This course also includes basic construction principles needed for success on any job site including basic safety, construction math, introduction to hand and power tools, blue print reading, and lead awareness. Cost: $181.25 + $15 test fee
