Computer Literacy for Beginners

This course provides absolute beginners with the foundation of knowledge needed to use your computer system at home. In addition, we will help you conquer your fears of Windows as well as teach you how to use the internet and email using Windows 7. This course is tailored for beginners. COURSE PREREQUISITES: None. Cost: $130


Computer for the Intermediate User
Hours: 48

Computers for the Intermediate User is appropriate for those who have completed the Computer Literacy for Beginners class or already have strong basic computer skills. Students will move to the next level of competency and cover topics more in depth such as Windows 7, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher. This course also covers the internet and methods for better searches as well as email and web browser options. Social media such as Facebook and Twitter are also discussed. We will learn more about computer hardware to allow for better troubleshooting skills. COURSE PREREQUISITES: Computer Literacy for Beginners or equivalent knowledge. Cost: $130

This is a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) class. This class will familiarize you with using Windows 8 on your laptop. This course is designed for those with very little (if any) knowledge of computers. Learn the concepts, terminology, and components of the personal computer. This course teaches you the basics of using your computer including how to turn it on — and turn it off. Windows 8 for the Intermediate User

Instruction will cover internal and external computer parts and troubleshooting the initial startup process. In addition you will be taught basic concepts related to Windows 7 and Windows 8 to include viewing contents of disks, drives, and folders, as well as creating, and saving files in various applications. You will learn about the MS Office ribbon as well as cover MS Word. Cost: $75

To help save yourself money and unneeded trips to the computer shop for repairs, this course will introduce you to a series of very simple steps you can take to keep your new computer running fast and efficient. In addition, things get installed on your system all the time, from applications, to games, to web plug-ins. There may even be viruses or "spyware" installed on your system that you don't even know about yet. This course will show you how to use the proper tools to clean up unused programs, get rid of unwanted files, and protect yourself and your computer from the bad side of the Internet. Come learn how to clean-up the software side of your computer and keep your system running smoothly! Digital Photography Intermediate

For those that want to do more with their digital camera pictures than just look at them, this course is for you! Photoshop Elements (PE), the "home" version of Adobe Photoshop, allows you to not only fix minor flaws in your pictures, but to create entirely new projects with your photos as well. Students will become familiar with the PE interface, and learn how to use and apply the many tools that PE offers; from simple brightness and contrast adjustments, to working with multi-layered artwork, to creating animated slideshows. This course covers all the basics of Photoshop Element0. Students will be expected to have a good working knowledge of the Windows operating system, using and working with files and folders. Excel isn't just for financial professionals. This spreadsheet and analysis program offers intuitive tools that make it easy to access, connect, and analyze critical data. This 9 hour course will introduce the Excel 2010 environment as we create a basic worksheet and perform basic calculations. From its sleek interface to the host of new built-in conveniences, Windows 7 certainly has a lot going for it. So once you're sold on the idea of moving to the new operating system, it's time to decide whether to upgrade a PC you already have to Windows 7, or if it makes more sense just to buy a new system with Windows 7 preinstalled. Your decision ultimately should be based on the amount of money and time an upgrade entails in your particular situation and how that compares to the money and time required purchasing a new PC and getting it reloaded with the apps and files you need. MS Word 2010 Intermediate

In MS Word Intermediate students will learn to work with styles, sections, and columns and will use the Navigation pane to work with outlines. They will format tables, print labels and envelopes, learn mail merge, and work with graphics. They will also use document templates, manage document revisions, and work with Web features. MS Publisher 2010
Hours: 12

Microsoft Publisher 2010 is a desktop publishing software program that comes with the Microsoft Office suite. While Microsoft Word is a word processing program, Microsoft Publisher is used for page layout and design. Students will learn how to navigate the Publisher interface, create and edit publications, arrange text and pictures, work with master pages, and create and format tables. They will also learn how to flow text across text boxes, create a facing-pages layout, export publications to PDF, and prepare publications for commercial printing. MS PowerPoint 2010 Basic

You will explore the PowerPoint environment and create a presentation. You will format text on slides to enhance clarity. To enhance the visual appeal, you will add graphical objects to a presentation and modify them. You will also add tables and charts to a presentation to present data in a structured form. Adobe Photoshop CS6: Pt 1

Adobe® Photoshop® CS6: Part 1 focuses on some of the basic features of Photoshop so that the student can navigate the environment and use Photoshop tools to work with photographic images. In addition, the orientation to Adobe Bridge and organization of files in Bridge is covered. Although Photoshop is used by a variety of professionals, from photographers to designers to videographers, Photoshop Part 1 will focus mainly on the photography component. Adobe Photoshop CS6: Pt2

In this course, you will identify and use raster and vector drawing and painting tools to create and edit images. Spreadsheets and Databases Part 1
