Patriotic Porch Decor
Hours: 5

Students will learn techniques for creating a door wreath using deco-mesh and other materials and will learn to properly plan and plant a patio planter for sun or shade. Emphasis will be placed design principles for both wreath and planters. Students will learn the difference between good and poor designs. Additional patriotic-themed decorating ideas will be provided. Cost: $35


American Sign Language
Hours: 12

Students will learn how basic vocabulary, grammar rules, and conversational skills of American Sign Language. Some of the topics are: introducing oneself, leisure activities, living arrangements, and family just to name a few. Must have access to Internet. Cost: $49


Introduction to Sailing

Learn the history, terminology, theory and practice of the oldest application of ‘GREEN’ power—sailing the oceans ONLY using the wind! In 10 weeks we will cover the boat, the forces and the techniques of moving it under wind power. Along the way we will learn the language of sailing and have brief looks at the history of sailing, from Egyptian pharaohs through the greatest sailing navy ever assembled up to the present including a brief look at The America’s Cup-the oldest championship in ALL of sport. Our text, SAIL, was developed by the United States Power Squadrons, which is recognized as a top boating education organization in the country. Cost: $119 (Includes text)

 


Positive Parenting

Parents will learn how to use the basic features of positive parenting skills by developing a good relationship with their children and manage misbehavior by learning positive parenting strategies such as planning ahead, developing parenting routines, and utilizing behavioral charts.Cost: $80


NRA: Basic Pistol Shooting for Women
Hours: 8

The NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course introduces students to the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for owning and using a pistol safely. Through this course, students will learn about pistol partsand operation, ammunition, gun safety, pistol shooting fundamentals, and pistol shooting activities. This course will also prepare the student for participation in other NRA courses. This course will be taught by a National Rifle Association Basic Pistol Shooting Instructor. If you are bringing your own gun to the range, you must provide your own ammo. For further questions, contact Lisa Smith at 493-7317. Cost: $79.25


Insanity Fitness

Come join us with this Insane workout! This course is designed to help you lose weight and to stay motivated working out along with your peers. Course includes plyometric drills along with strength, endurance, and core training moves. Pre-registration and payment is required 3 days prior to the beginning of class so do not wait! Wear workout clothing, tennis shoes, bring a towel, and water. This course is for all levels of fitness. Cost: $35


Boxing Fitness

This course is designed to prepare individuals with a centralized fitness program including cardiovascular assessments, physical conditioning, offensive and defensive training as well as nutritional education. Beginning Golf for Women

This course is designed for women who want to learn how to play golf. Participants will learn the basics in a casual friendly setting, learning the best ways to hold the club, hitting the ball close to the hole-chipping, pitching and other shots from short distances as well as learning terminology and etiquette. Watercolor Basics

This is an introductory class in the art of watercolor painting. You well be introduced to the very basics of working with watercolor paintes and applying various techniques to create art. The class is an excellent outlet opportunity. Cost is $60


Advanced Watercolor Painting

Family Stories Workshop

Every family has stories to tell, but many are lost before they’re recorded. In this workshop, students will receive guidance in how to write and structure these stories and their own. Through a balance of lecture, stimulating memory exercises, discussion, and class feedback they will be able to create a permanent record of these stories for posterity. Cost is $65


Creative Writing Seminar

This course is designed for the experienced as well as the inexperienced writer. The emphasis is on creativity, writing, and critique. Assignments are read anonymously and critiqued by class members and the instructor to work toward improved writing technique and communication skills. Tip sheets on the elements of writing are supplemented by exercises. All genres of writing are welcome. Revision and submission for publication and competition are encouraged. Cost is $65


Spanish: Beginning Conversation

This course will prepare students to have conversation with Spanish speaking individuals. Topics include basic fundamentals of grammar, oral comprehension, various dialects, and basic conversations. A beginning vocabulary will be established. Cost $79.


Secrets to a more Realistic Painting

New Horizons Band

If you are looking for a fun way to learn a musical instrument without the rigors of individual instruction, you might want to consider joining the New Horizons Band. The New Horizons Band is for adults, ages 50 and up, who wish to learn to play a band instrument for the first time, or relearn an instrument, the New Horizons band provides a relaxed, fun learning situation. The New Horizons Band provides adults with little or no musical experience the opportunity to play band music with others. The band meets two days a week. Instruments include flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet and trombone, other instruments are considered upon request. Come join the fun with this ensemble and discover your hidden (or dormant) musical talents! Cost: FREE


Reading Music I

This course is designed for individuals with no music reading experience as those who wish to improve their music reading skill. Course content will include the history of musical notation, the elements of music and how they are written, collaborative activities, and group participation. Cost: $49

Classical Music: A Primer

This course will explore the traditions of Western art music via the structure, style and composers of works to be performed at the upcoming PCC Symphony Orchestra concert. Course content will include listening, lecture, discussion, an introduction to score reading and conducting, and a hands-on introduction to orchestral instruments. No previous musical experience required. Cost: $60


Group Piano for Adults with Previous Experience

This course builds on skills learned in previous piano lessons or classes. Students will review piano skills and continue development with two-handed techniques, including basic hand positions, chords, complex melodies, and use music symbols to play the keyboard. Cost: $49

This course is an exploratory introduction to playing the piano for beginners. Students will learn basic hand positions, simple melodies, note names, and beginning music reading. Each section is different and use new rolls. Cost: $49

Exploring Music for Adults

This course is a hands-on introduction to music. Students will come to appreciate all aspects of music through listening, responding, creating, and understanding music through their bodies, minds, and spirits. Emphasis will be on movement, singing, playing instruments, and reading music. Topics will include the elements of music, styles, multicultural aesthetics, improvisation, and composition. Cost: $49


The Celebration Singers

People who sing together often seem utterly happy and engaged in life. Singing, Swinging Seniors is a fun-filled choir for adults, ages 50 and up. If you enjoy singing and socializing… this is the group for you! Come enjoy music from Gospel to Broadway show tunes and just about everything in between. Singing may offer benefits to deep and controlled breathing and focus on maintaining good use of the lungs, diaphragm and abdominal muscles. In addition, singing maintains good speech and diction. Add music to your health! Attend as often as you can – we understand life is full of appointments and travel! No audition required, just a love of music. Cost: FREE


PCC Symphony Orchestra

This course provides an opportunity for those who play an orchestral instrument to gain experience by playing is an ensemble. Emphasis is placed on orchestral techniques and the study and performance of a variety of styles and periods or orchestral and string ensemble literature. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate skills needed to participate in ensemble playing leadership to performance. PREREQUISITE: Complete of high school orchestra or band program, or comparable private lesson experience. All other cases to be determined by audition.
