Weekend Program Options

1. Associate in Arts Degree – University Transfer

Complete this degree in two calendar years just by taking classes on Saturday and online! All courses in the Associate in Arts program are guaranteed to transfer to a UNC institution.

The Associate in Arts degree shall be granted for a planned program of study consisting of a minimum of 60 semester hours of credit (SHC) of college transfer courses. Within the degree program, the institution shall include opportunities for the achievement of competence in reading, writing, oral communication, fundamental mathematical skills, and basic computer use. The Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA) and the Independent Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (ICAA) enables North Carolina community college graduates of two-year associate in arts programs who are admitted to constituent institutions of The University of North Carolina and to Signatory Institutions of North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities to transfer with junior status. Community college graduates must obtain a grade of "C" or better in each course and an overall GPA of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale in order to transfer with a junior status. Courses may also transfer through bilateral agreements between institutions.

Advisor's Note: This degree is an ideal choice if you are planning to transfer to a four-year college or university to seek a bachelor's of arts degree.

 

2. Criminal Justice Technology – Associate's Degree in Applied Science

Complete this degree in less than two years just by taking classes on Saturday and online! OR, attend two extra semesters and complete a second degree in Criminal Justice Technology: Financial Crime/Computer Fraud!

The Criminal Justice Technology curriculum is designed to provide knowledge of criminal justice systems and operations. Study will focus on local, state, and federal law enforcement, judicial processes, corrections, and security services. The criminal justice system's role within society will be explored. Emphasis is on criminal justice systems, criminology, juvenile justice, criminal and constitutional law, investigative principles, ethics, and community relations. Additional study may include issues and concepts of government, counseling, communications, computers, and technology. Employment opportunities exist in a variety of local, state, and federal law enforcement, corrections, and security fields. Examples include police officer, deputy sheriff, county detention officer, state trooper, intensive probation/parole surveillance officer, correctional officer, and loss prevention specialist.

Advisor's Note: This degree is an ideal choice is you plan to pursue a career in law enforcement, corrections, probation/parole, or security.

 

3. Medical Office Administration – Dental Office Administration Diploma

Complete this diploma in one year just by taking classes on Saturday and online!

The Dental Office Administration Diploma prepares individuals for employment to oversee the administrative operations of dental care settings. They perform general office duties such as answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, helping with insurance claims, and collecting payments. They are responsible for overseeing the administrative functions of various dental care settings. These individuals are not directly involved in treating patients. Course work includes dental terminology, dental billing and coding, dental office management, and dental office simulation. Graduates should qualify for employment opportunities in various dental care settings.

Advisor's Note: This diploma is an ideal choice for someone wanting to work in the front office operations of a dental office.

 

4. Business Administration: Business Supervisor Certificate

Complete this certificate in just one semester by taking classes on Saturday and online!

This certificate will enhance the skills needed as students prepare for and pursue a promotion into a supervisory position. The courses included in this certificate will help students understand basic management principles, effective communication, and contemporary business practices. Upon completion of this certificate, students should also be able to increase human resource productivity while maintaining compliance with various laws and regulations.

Advisor's Note: This certificate is an ideal choice for someone with business experience wanting to move into a supervisory role. This certificate "lives" under the Business Administration two-year degree.

 

In addition, many majors offer single classes at night or on the weekends for scheduling flexibility!
